“ Beauty isn’t about having a pretty face, it’s about having a pretty mind, pretty heart and a pretty
souI. It’s the opposite of perfection, it’s about confidence and character.” - Anonymous
Allure’s new issue is all about beauty of diversity. Beauty is in eye of the beholder and Allure truly
celebrates that. Fashion always sticks to very strict norms of as to what is considered beautiful and
glamorous, however Allure’s new issue is truly breaking this stereotype.
The cover features three models Iman Hammam, Aamito Lagum and Dilone and they look
charismatic and captivating but moreover they look empowering, confident and powerful. The
magazine also consists of an interview of 41 women of different colour, who were asked to describe
their journey through colour. These women spoke about harmony, sagacity, their struggles, role
models, success and failures.
The magazine wants to spread out the message that skin tone is a just a reflection in the mirror and
can be a great source of defense and celebration.
The editor in chief, Michelle Lee stated that there were some stretch marks on Imaan’s body which
weren’t edited at all. This depicted that the magazine didn’t want to showcase fake beauty and wants
fashion to change its perceptions towards what is real beauty.
The fans are in love with the concept of this issue and how Allure changed the meaning of beauty. The reaction on Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms were really positive and engaging.
