Falling in love with your BESTIE is a very rare and wonderfully fulfilling proposal. As you were first best friends who became romantic partners, the understanding is already there. You know each others’ qualities and faults, so the trust is already there. It's like a dream come true which if it works, can make you a power couple who are always there for each other, for better or for worse.

As with everything else, this also has a flip side; the thrill of discovering each other is missing
i.e. the thrill of a new romance is missing. This may lead to boredom and which if continued, the romance may fizzle out all together. Having been besties before the relationship began, the expectations from one another are extremely high and sometimes illogical things like 'since we are besties, he/she should have known my preferences' can get in the way.
If the sex is not good, it further adds fuel to the fire. If in case, it leads to a breakup, it can affect mutual friendships and common friends may start taking sides, thus leading to further awkwardness. If both partners are committed to take the relationship to the next level, each have to clearly define each other’s expectations and not think our partners to be mind readers. Unless, this happens, it’s maybe better to stay besties rather than becoming romantic partners.
