Anniesa Hasibuan presenting hijab collection for the first time at NYFW

There were many designers that appeared amid NY Fashion Week, but one designer in particular certainly merits consideration. The Muslim designer, Anniesa Hasibuan has left a mark on the world after her runway collection.

Hasibuan showcased a collection, where each look was fully equipped with hijabs. In an accumulation motivated by the place she grew up, Jakarta, the hijabs were worn with pants, suits, kimonos, tunics and outfits all in vivid silks. In an effort to put the Indonesian name on the map of fashion, the designer utilizes her garments in a way that acquaints individuals with the distinctive and differing parts of Indonesia.

A total of 48 looks went down the runway of which 38 were read-to-wear. Towards the end of the show, Hasibuan was given an overwhelming applause, both an uncommon sight at fashion week and an astonishing achievement for a one year old brand.


The Indonesian designer juxtaposed western design with traditional Indonesian wear and did so with ease and style. Who knew that two totally different fashions could blend so well?
