Might have heard "sari vich nari hai ki nari vich sari hai" can also be understand as Indian had a
different way of wearing cloth, explore all possibilities with a simple un stitched and untied
piece of cloth. this also shows Indian draping style was explored in ancient India. Male Dhoti is
also a simple cloth worn in different style in hundreds of culture in india. every state has its
peculier way of wearing sari and dhoti. even head gears called pagari in india were also
designed by a piece of cloth.

There are many ways of weaving/making sari in India traditionally.
The simplicity of product, huge possibility of user involvement in design process and identical
dress sense of every state can position differently Indian fashion on global platform. Indian
fashion varies from village to village and city to city. There are beautiful techniques
developped over a period of time in different materials mostly in silk and cotton.
The colors were different in different regions of the country but mostly were vibrant. States like
Gujrat, Rjasthan, Uttar Pradesh has long journey of craft techniques of dyeing or coloring cloth. Indian fashion is known for handmade dresses and accessories. Rich embellishment, attractive
attire, proposing colors and beautiful wearing techniques makes indian fashion unique.
there was a trend of wearing "stanapatta" to cover breast and sari to lower part of body for
women in India. ghaghra choli also invented in 10th century AD. initially choli was to cover front
only but latter on it coverd back also. stanapatta was also simple piece of cloth
used to fastened at the back with aknot. Uttariya, terban and dhoti are also visible still in India.
The impact of globalization, demand of easy and quick solution for life. Indian fashion is changing with global trends and a new fusion of indo-western culture can be seen every where now.
