Social sex refers to real sex that is filmed then uploaded to social-media platforms such as Twitter, Tumbler and Snap-chat. It’s different from porn. Porn is fantasy. Social media has changed the way we use the internet. So it makes sense that our sex lives will also change accordingly. The internet movement has led to the development of MakeLoveNotPorn.tv (MLNP), launched in the year 2012 by Cindy Gallop and now has 400,000 global subscribers and an archive of over 500 videos. MLNP is pro porn and pro sex.

Gallop created MLNP and coined the phrase 'social sex' to break up the influx of unrealistic porn footage on the internet. As per Gallop, sex talk is still a taboo. You cannot have open, healthy conversation around sex. Social sex has become popular as real people share real stories and this is very empowering. It augments the sexual sense of self and makes you feel more aware of yourself as a sexual being. The sooner we drop the traditional stuffy mind-set towards sex; the sooner we'll have a more liberated society and better sex-educated younger generations. Life is very short to live without full self-expression and complete fulfilment.

There are positives and negatives as with everything else. Relationships where couples share their sex footage may not last forever. Couples may be in the throes of passion and love in one instant, but things can always steer down to separation. There are a few tips that always help and these are listed below:

  • The best intimacy is about being together

  • Never overlook foreplay, it enhances the sexual orgasm

  • Incredible sexual connection involves both body and mind

  • Be positive about your own body

  • Love yourself first

  • Women cannot always reach orgasm during penetrative sex, but have fun, anyways
